Habibi is what happens when you spill solvent on the psychedelic garage / surf music / girl groups section of your record collection.

Katie Crutchfield, performing as Waxahatchee, has been slowly and steadily building her repertoire and now her talent is overflowing her banks.

WIth their minimalist riffing, straight ahead drumming, and disaffected vocals, this band sounds so much like Parquet Courts I had to check that it wasn’t a side project

Fast-forward punk, with the sort of edge that comes from the current DIY movement, and an unknown spice that makes the songs stand out from your standard barrage of fuzzed out chords and beats.

After a long absence, the RockaTeens return with their trademark sonic assault, but with the reverb turned down a bit. They kick off this week's show with "Turn and Smile".

This goes all over the place, but mostly rocks hard with inventive arrangements and infectious hooks.

Aggressive debut from this UK band features some highly dynamic songs loaded with twisty hooks.
