Mixtape 308 • Deadhead
Things are nice and cozy inside the Foxwarren, but it’s hard to deny the underlying feral scent.

Looks like July will be another three-show month, so I’m preparing lots of audio fireworks. We are delighted to discover Foxwarren and their sweetly trilling “Deadhead,” which features a most incongruous but enjoyable video. Also, Broncho was amazing, read my review on Ink 19.
Listening to Toro y Moi is like sinking into a heavily-perfumed fluffy bed.
It’s fitting to receive instruction from Art Brut on how the whole band thing works. Rumor has it there’s new music on the way, and I could not be more excited. Notice to the faithful listeners: the show will be off on the expected December 17, but will return for a special off-schedule holiday showcase on the 24th.
If you need the musical equivalent of a quality pint with a good friend, The Bug Club is here to serve.
Raw as a blister and smooth as obsidian, Okay Kaya is a spinner of tales and shifter of moods.
Looks like YACHT is back and gesticulating wildly about.
There’s a lot of great new music out there right now, and near the top of the heap is The Bug Club, whose most recent release is filled to the brim with joyful nuggets of everyday life. The school year has started and the coffers are overflowing with a lot of great new music.
Magic is in the air, so we are starting most appropriately with Boom Pam and their take on Steve Miller’s “Abracadabra,” herein entitled “Alakazam.” It only got more magical from there with new music from Nick Cave, Fake Fruit, and Los Bitchos, all of whom are presently on desktop rotation. Next week: a special Fund Drive show.
