In fitting tribute to tonight’s finale, in which I exited the station onto a pallid moonlit snowscape, I am highlighting Soulwax for their fitting track, “Polaris.” Elsewhere tonight, a special San Francisco set that came out pretty transcendent.

For a quarter century, Dirk Dresselhaus has been putting out sparse, intelligent electronic compositions that even at their calmest crackle with some subtle form of nervous energy.

I can’t tell if having a name that sounds like something SNL cooked up for a sketch about a pair of Austrian DJs is good or bad for this pair of Austrian DJs. These soulful electronic compositions unearthed from the last century are no joke, though.
